National Pride of Place – Public Meeting

Help celebrate all that is good and unique about our town.

Kildare Town has been chosen to represent the County in the National Pride of Place competition for 2013.

There will be an information/public meeting on the 8 May at 7.30 pm in Kildare Heritage Centre (Market House), Market Square to explore how we as a community might showcase our town. All are welcome.

The competition focuses on how the community comes together to shape, change and enjoy what their local area has to offer. It can help galvanise our efforts to build an even stronger community. While it is a public meeting we would appreciate if each organisation could send even one representative.

Sometimes we cannot see the wood for the trees and we fail to appreciate how far we have come or how much is on offer. A recent comment by some UK visitors to the town (April 2013) testifies to just that, “Our first visit to Kildare was twenty years ago. [It] was in a bad state, closed and dreary. The Improvement to the town is incredible, excellent Square, easy parking, fresh and inviting. Kildare has vastly improved.”

None of the above would have been possible without the community coming together. Think of all the positive work happening through our public representatives, local sports clubs, festival committees, historic society, residents committees, tidy towns, volunteer and other agencies who are working together to move the town forward. Let us tell it to the world; we are proud of our town – 7.30 pm Wed. 8 May in Kildare Heritage Centre (Market House), Market Square.

M & C Joinery

M & C Joinery has been in business since 1983, when it was founded by Kildare natives Paul McLoughlin and Joe Callan. Paul and Joe have over 60 years of carpentry experience between them, and are still heavily involved in all projects carried out at the Joinery today.

M & C has gradually grown from a small, local business to one that has clients across the country, and even abroad. The Joinery specialises in windows, doors, shop fronts and stables amongst other types of work.

M & C Joinery has been an employer in Kildare since it’s set-up and continues to employ a fully trained and experienced team of specialist joiners. Today, we are one of Ireland’s best respected and most trusted Joineries.

About Us

Kildare Chamber of Commerce Board Members:

Paul Lenehan - Kildare Chamber ChairpersonPaul Lenehan, Chamber Chairperson
Brian Flanagan - Chamber Vice-ChairpersonBrian Flanagan, Chamber Vice-Chairperson is an initiative of the Kildare Town Chamber of Commerce that will highlight and showcase Kildare Town as the place to visit, attract more visitors, inject income and create exposure for business and community groups alike, by hammering home the message that Kildare Town is Ireland’s No 1 Day Trip Destination.

To improve the business environment in Kildare, enhance community prosperity and develop a sustainable mix of business and lifestyle opportunities for Kildare’s future. To act as an advocate for the business community, a conduit for information and to promote Kildare’s position in the regional landscape.

Chamber membership is steadily increasing and is now the largest community organisation in Kildare Town. Members of the Chamber are typically Kildare people who love the town, living, working and doing business here.
Our rapidly growing population has attracted some of the best enterprises including the Kildare Village Outlet, several large supermarkets and supports many small businesses. Between them, they provide a rewarding working environment for the people of Kildare.

The Chamber’s future lies in harnessing the innovation and energy of the business community as a dynamic force for positive growth and development of Kildare Town. We will strive to be a powerful influence on Kildare’s future.

We Believe:

  • We are the voice of commerce in the community
  • We will partner with government to resolve obstacles which affect our community’s economic health and prosperity
  • We are members working together for the benefit of the community
  • We promote economic development in our community by supporting tourism, industry and business
  • We strive to  provide value for membership
  • We derive strength through diversity
  • We are a catalyst for change

Action Plan:

  • We will lobby government to act on issues of concern to our members
  • We will encourage & retain membership in the Chamber by promoting value
  • We will promote economic development and prosperity through private and public partnerships
  • We will promote business excellence
  • We will seek to engage our members to become actively involved in Chamber initiatives and committees
  • We will raise the profile of the Chamber in the community
