New Irish short film seeking producer and screen writers

Pádraig J. Dunne, writer and director of The Cloak, is looking for a producer and writers to collaborate on a new short film project entitled ‘Cursed’. It’s a short film in the Horror/Thriller genre and for this he needs a producer with extensive experience and a writer with experience working on screenplay and script editing.

This project is for submission to the Kildare County Council and Arts Council for funding so only people who are really serious about their craft and with sufficient experience need apply. Pádraig will be directing this project, along with composer, Padraig Meredith, Director of Photography, Alan Rogers, shooting on camera 1 Black Magic URSA, camera 2  (Panasonic GH4), Camera 3 5DMk2. They have extensive experience working on projects with large special effects components, high quality productions including green screen, large ship sinking scenes, 1930s New York street scenes, aerial photography and major musical productions. This project will be shot using only a professional cast and crew from Co. Kildare, focusing on North Kildare. The funding application is due on 6th October 2014, so the second draft and a draft budget needs to be ready for that date.

A Contribution to the history of Kildare Town

Compiled and Edited by Mario Corrigan & Ger Kelly

Tuesday June  24th  to  Saturday June 28th – Open door time

‘Church of the Oak’ was published by The Grey Abbey Conservation Project, in December 2006, The Church of the Oak was the first comprehensive contribution to the history of Kildare Town in over 50 years. It physically ran to 240 Pages with some 200 captioned photographs of over 1500 people, at numerous social, sporting and workplace events and venues. Well researched articles on a wide range of subjects were augmented by more than seventy interesting articles from the Kildare Observer and the Leinster Leader from 1880 – 1979, items that made the headlines in Kildare Town over a period of 100 years. The purpose of the book was to promote the work of the group, a subsidiary of the local history group, Cill Dara Historical Society and all proceeds went towards raising awareness of the abbey and to promote and preserve the history and heritage of the town. It paved the way for a number of well-received local history publications in the town.  As part of Kildare  Derby Festival, Kildare Town Library will run a slideshow of photos from ‘CHURCH OF THE OAK’.

Everyone welcome.

The Cloak on Dragons’ Den on Easter Sunday

Producer and director of ‘The Cloak’to face the Dragons’ Den
RTÉ One at 9.30pm, Sunday, 20th April, 2014.

First up in the Den this week, we see two entrepreneurs employ some very unique and attention grabbing tactics when they deliver a theatrical pitch for their production The Cloak, an Irish musical based on the story of St. Brigid’s life. With 20 years experience in the entertainment industry, working in television, theatre and film, Padraig J. Dunne and his business partner, Anne Brain are looking for an investment of €100,000 for 10%. They arrive to the Den with members of The Cloak cast who provide an atmospheric and haunting background performance throughout their pitch. Described by Padraig as the ‘truly gritty story’ of St. Brigid’s life, The Cloak documents the pain, oppression and abuse endured by St. Brigid throughout her life. Padraig tells his potential investors that the show has been met with great enthusiasm by the public, receiving standing ovations on each night of its performance … The only question is, do they have what it takes to make the Dragons stand up and take notice?
